THE AFRICAN CHILD
This African Child Bronze Sculptures (approximately lifesize) is one of a limited Edition of 10. Editions 1,2 and 3 have already sold. For every bronze sold, we will donate 12% of the proceeds to help combat poverty and hunger in Africa.
We all know that every year millions of African children die alone, in pain, and sometimes without even the hand of another to hold or console them in their last hours.
Often, I feel I don’t want to look, to see the horrors and inhumanness of our world - to feel their pain, but I realised that my desire to close my eyes was making my heart dull to their pain. My avoidance of my pain added to theirs. Pain is seldom, if ever, an emotion we choose to feel, but it’s the pain that makes change possible. To hide their plight, to close our eyes and to give up because it just seems too big, too much…will translate to a segrated world where the need for change is no longer seen and therefore no longer possible.
This sculpture is a way of reaching out my hand, at least in spirit, to offer a caring hand where there may be no other. We can start by caring enough to shed a tear…..who knows……. together it may cause river of much needed water.
