While I don't consider myself a religious person I am spiritual and my spirituality is reflected in my creativity. The world has many religions but our spirituality belongs to us as individuals. I believe there are many paths that lead to the mountain top and each of us must choose to travel our own path.
Religions divide us - spirituality brings us together.
“My art is seeded in my soul, held in my heart and then birthed through my hands.”
These sculptures are made from a clay type composite that is not kiln fired, enabling the pieces to be created solid giving the sculptures the look, weight and touch similar to that of marble or stone.
Each sculpture is an original.
These sculptures encompassing figures, larger busts and make wonderful indoor entrance pieces.
Mother Mary
Shona visited Chartres Cathedral, about an hour outside Paris in 2006 and it was here that she was introduced to sacred geometry and developed her deep love for Mary. The Cathedral is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and houses a tunic said to have belonged to her. So for centuries Chartres has been an important Marian pilgrimage centre and destination.
Shona continues to be in awe and is inspired by the many faces of Mother Mary and her capacity for compassion, acceptance, serenity, love, wisdom and surrender.

Mary of Chartres
The blue glass that surrounds the sculpture is actually from Chartres in France and is in celebration of the beautiful Blue Madonna stained glass window situated in the Cathedral. Chartres is about 1 hour out of Paris and is awe inspiring.
The Burmese Monk
The Burmese Monk was created by when the monks in Burma took to the streets and were beaten and killed during their peaceful protest calling for the release of their democratically elected leader Aung San Sui Kyi.
I continue to be deeply moved by the courage and spirit of these people in the most horrendous conditions. People’s inner strength to withstand is far more powerful to our world soul than the strength of any army.
The outer world and our responses to it are a reflection of our inner world. The journey inward takes a lifetime and the closed eyes signify the importance of that inner journey.
Young Mary
Mary embraces us all and although she may have many different faces for millions of people she is our archetypal mother and continues to bring hope, comfort and love to all.
Young Mary was created to illustrate her initial innocence of what was yet to come. Prior to the birth of her son, Jesus and all that followed.
No matter what your beliefs or religions this archetypical figure of Mother has meaning for all. She holds the values of love, peace, compassion, surrender, nurturer and inner strength. I am very interested in exploring through sculpture the worlds Archetypes and bring them visually into our world today.
